  • Choose from three types of trees: Standard, Combination, or Descendant - offering a maximum of 9 generations depending on the style you choose. Check out our FAQ below for more information on each tree.
  • Poster size ranges from 16x20" to 36x48" depending on the type of tree and the number of generations you put on your poster. The poster print may be up to 1/4" shorter per side after trimming.
  • Printed on lightweight, archival-quality photo paper.

Just login to our website with your FamilySearch login, and your tree data will be available to create your custom Family Tree Poster! Simply select the poster type, starting person, and number of generations you wish to include on your poster.

Please note that your project is not automatically updated with new data added to FamilySearch, so we recommend creating your poster once you’re satisfied with your FamilySearch tree.

Standard:
• Starts with an individual.
• Includes their direct line of ancestors. (i.e. parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc.).
• Maximum number of generations for this poster is 9.

Combination:
• Starts with a couple.
• Includes their children, and the direct line of ancestors for each person in the starting couple.
• Maximum number of generations for this poster is 7.

Descendant:
• Starts with an individual.
• Includes their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
• Maximum number of generations for this poster is 4.

For Descendant posters only: The orientation of the poster (portrait or landscape) will be automatically determined depending on the data within your tree. You cannot choose a specific size or orientation.

All 3g posters are 24x18" or 18x24" - orientation depends on the data (landscape, portrait)
All 4g posters are 36x24" or 24x36" - orientation depends on the data (landscape, portrait)

Yes! We have three backgrounds: Modern, Classic, Simple

You can also change font style and text size, and swap out photos. Just click on the text or photo you'd like to update, and an editor will appear on screen. Add flags and other embellishments to further customize your poster.

Your project draft will automatically save as you update it. Your draft will be saved in your account for two years.

We accept JPG and PNG files. You can upload photos from your device or your FamilySearch Tree. We recommend file sizes between 2-5 MB and a resolution of 150+ PPI for the best results

Yes! You can order additional copies within your MyCanvas account. Click here for details.

After ordering your poster, you can also share a link with family and friends that allows them to view the poster online and even purchase a copy. Click here for details.
