Just login to our website with your FamilySearch login, and your tree data will be available to create your custom Family History Book! Simply select the book type, starting person, and number of generations you wish to include in your book.
Please note that your project is not automatically updated with new data added to FamilySearch, so we recommend creating your poster once you’re satisfied with your FamilySearch tree.
We offer 3 types of books, so you can choose which fits your needs:
Standard
- The standard book starts with an individual.
- It includes their direct line of ancestors (i.e., the starting individual with their parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc.).
- The number of generations to create the 11 x 8.5" book is 4, 5, or 6.
- The number of generations to create the 13 x 10" book is 4, 5, 6, or 7.
Combination
- The combination book starts with a couple.
- It includes their children and the direct line of ancestors for each person in the starting couple (i.e., the children of the starting couple, the starting couple, and their parents and grandparents).
- The maximum number of generations to start this book is 4.
Descendant
- The descendant book starts with an individual or couple and records their line forward for 3 or 4 generations.
- Select 3 generations to include the starting person or couple's children and grandchildren.
- Select 4 generations to include the starting person or couple's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Yes! All page layouts can be edited. This includes changing font, text size, photo layout and more. Just click on the text or photo you'd like to update, and an editor will appear on screen.
Your Family History Book draft will automatically save as you update it. Your draft will be saved in your account for two years.
We accept JPG and PNG files. You can upload photos from your device or FamilySearch. We recommend file sizes between 2-5 MB and a resolution of 150+ PPI for the best results.
Yes! You can order additional copies within your MyCanvas account. Click here for details.
After ordering your book, you can also share a link with family and friends that allows them to view the book online and even purchase a copy. Click here for details.
